Here are a few tips about safety when you are out and about doing activities.
Things to bring: - First aid kit - A snack - Water to drink (in hot weather, fill a cup or bottle almost to the top and put it in the freezer the night before) - Cellular phone (remember to charge it the night before you leave)
When you arrive at your destination: - Scout out your surroundings - Find exits - Find information booths - Find snack or rest area - Find bathrooms - Be aware of those around you
Safety preparation: - Role play with your children when talking about real life situations - Play what-if games - Discuss real life information - Practice real life situations with your children - Set body boundaries - Give permission to say NO! - Teach about the buddy system - Teach them to ask you first - Help children learn to identify trusted adults - Teach preschoolers emergency telephone skills
